Hill Town Resort 2018-03-16T11:27:11+00:00

This studio project began with a visit to Granada, Nicaragua to study Latin American architecture and city planning.  Our task was to apply this knowledge in designing a new oceanfront town in Costa Rica.  Following New Urbanist principles, it must be dense and pedestrian-friendly, with well-designed views, privacy, and a diverse mixture of spaces and businesses.  The objective: a totally new development, with the character of a town that has naturally developed over centuries.

I designed a structural template for houses that can adapt to future expansion, or commercial use.  All the proposed buildings use bearing-wall construction, with methods and materials native to the region.
